Replacing Piraeus Mastercard Credits cards with Piraeus Visa Debit / Piraeus Visa Debit II cards

Are there any changes from the replacement of my card?

Your new Visa credit card has a different card number and retains the same features and functionality as your old Mastercard credit card (e.g. pin code, credit limit, interest rate etc.) For more details, you may find here the related Visa credit cards cover letters.


Do I have to take any action after receiving Visa credit card or is it immediately functional?

For security reasons, your new card is not activated and you should proceed to activate it according to the instructions on the cover letter where the card has been affixed. Upon activation of your new Visa credit card, your old Mastercard credit card will be automatically deactivated.

You can activate your card via:

  • Piraeus e-banking / Piraeus app
  • Piraeus ATM
  • Call at +30 210 3898989

Moreover, you will need to ensure the reconnection of standing orders with your new card, as well as you need to add your new Visa card in Piraeus Bank's digital wallets, in case you have already added your Piraeus Mastercard credit card in them.


What happens about my credit card current balance and available balance?

Upon activation of your new Visa credit card, any current balance, available balance, credit limit, transaction history etc of your Mastercard credit card will be transferred to your new Visa credit card and the Mastercard credit card will be cancelled. After the activation of the Visa card, the copy of monthly statements will be issued under the Visa card number and the transactions and the card number with which they were carried out will be displayed in detail.

Please note that, regardless of the Visa card activation, your Mastercard credit card will be automatically canceled on a specific date which is communicated in the Visa credit cards cover letter. After this date, your Mastercard credit card will not be able to be used for any transaction. If the new Visa card is not activated, any current balance will remain on the Mastercard credit card, and you can pay off in the same way you have been paying until today. If you wish to use your new Visa card, you will need to activate it and then, your balance, credit limit, transaction history etc will be transferred from the Mastercard credit card to the new Visa credit card.

What about installment transactions?

If you have made installment transactions with your Mastercard credit card, upon activation of the Visa credit card, the remaining installments will continue under your new Visa credit card.



I am cardholder of Mastercard / Mastercard Gold. What will happen on the yellows I have collected from the use of my card?

If you have register in Yellow Rewards Program, your new Visa card (Visa Classic, Visa Classic II or/and Visa Gold) will give you the opportunity to continue earning yellows. The replacement of Mastercard credit card with Visa credit card is not a reason for deletion of any yellows that you have earn for your entire banking relationship with your Piraeus products and services.


I am cardholder of Miles & More World Mastercard / Miles & More World Mastercard Gold. What will happen about the miles I have collected from my transactions?

The replacement of your Mastercard credit card with a Visa credit card is not a reason for causing miles losing.

However, the Miles & More General Terms & Conditions clearly state that the Miles & More Visa credit cards offer mile protection, as long as you hold the Miles & More Visa credit card for at least 3 months and make at least one purchase per month that offers you miles.

In case that you do not use your Miles & More Visa credit card with at least one purchase per month, your miles are subject to deletion 36 months after their earning date, according to Miles & More General Terms & Conditions.

Consequently, to keep enjoying the privileges offered by Miles & More loyalty you need to activate your new Visa credit card and use it at least once a month, for performing a transaction that offers you miles.

We remind you that through your credit card you may earn:

  • 1 mile for each 1€ of purchases with the credit card
  • 1 mile for every 10€ of payment of taxes and dues to the Greek state
  • Extra miles for balance transfer of any credit card issued by a Greek bank, other than those issued by Piraeus Bank, to your Miles & More Visa.

I am cardholder of Olympiacos F.C. Mastercard / Olympiacos F.C. Mastercard Gold. What will happen about the unredeemed points I have collected from my transactions?

Upon activation of your new Visa credit card, your points are automatically transferred as well as transaction history, available balance etc to your new Visa credit card.

However, in case you don’t activate your new Visa card, after Mastercard credit card cancellation, the Terms and Conditions of the program posted here, will apply.



I am cardholder of Olympiacos B.C. Mastercard / Olympiacos B.C. Mastercard Gold. What will happen about the unredeemed points I have collected from my transactions?

Upon activation of your new Visa credit card, your points are automatically transferred as well as transaction history, available balance etc to your new Visa credit card.

However, in case you don’t activate your new Visa card, after Mastercard credit card cancellation, the Terms and Conditions of the program posted here, will apply.


What will happen about additional Mastercard credit cards (add-on)?

All cards, primary and additional, will be mailed to the main holder’s address gradually and each cardholder must activate her/his card. The activation of any card (either primary or additional) causes the automatic cancellation of the credit card of all cardholders (either additional holder or main holder) and each cardholder must activate her/his card.

After activation, each holder will need to ensure the reconnection of standing orders with the new card, as well as she/he needs to add her/his new Visa card in Piraeus Bank's digital wallets.

What is the benefit of replacing my Piraeus Mastercard Debit card with a Piraeus Visa Debit / Piraeus Visa Debit II card?

Your new Piraeus Visa Debit / Piraeus Visa Debit II card offers you a range of benefits and services, such as:

  • Participation in loyalty programs (e.g. yellow Rewards Program for enrolled members)
  • Participation in promotions and competitions
  • Payments via digital wallets
  • Card management via Piraeus e-banking / Piraeus app
  • Secure online transactions
  • Transaction conversion into instalments via Piraeus e-banking / Piraeus app

Soon, new services will be added to the above, for which you will be regularly informed and which will help improve your daily transactions.

Is there any difference between the old Piraeus Mastercard Debit card and the new Piraeus Visa Debit / Piraeus Visa Debit II card I received?

Your new card has a different card number and retains the same features and functionality as your old card (e.g. linked accounts, contactless transactions, etc.).

Please note that the same Terms and Conditions of the Debit Card Agreement still apply to your new Piraeus Visa Debit / Piraeus Visa Debit II card. These terms (available only in greek) are constantly posted, as updated each time, on the Bank's website.

I had requested not to execute contactless transactions with my old card. Does the same apply to my new card?

Your new card retains the same features and functionality of your existing card. In this case, the usage restriction you had set on your old card is also transferred to your new card.

Please note that the same Terms and Conditions of the Debit Card Agreement continue to apply to your new Piraeus Visa Debit Card / Piraeus Visa Debit II card. These terms are constantly posted, as updated each time, on the Bank's website.

Is there any difference between Piraeus Visa Debit and Piraeus Visa Debit II?

Both products have the same functional features and enjoy the same benefits. Your new Visa Debit II card carries a blue Visa logo, so you can easily distinguish it from your existing Visa Debit card.

You will receive the Piraeus Visa Debit, in replacement of the Mastercard Debit, if you do not hold another debit card product and the Piraeus Visa Debit II if you already hold the Piraeus Visa Debit. 


Prepaid Cards

Replacing Piraeus Prepaid Reloadable Card cards with Piraeus Prepaid Visa cards

Are there any changes from the replacement of my Piraeus Prepaid Reloadable Card with a Piraeus Prepaid Visa Card?

Your new card has a different card number and retains the same features and functionality as your old card (e.g. contactless transactions, load – unload limits etc.).

Please note that the same Terms and Conditions of the Prepaid Card Agreement still apply to your new Piraeus Prepaid Visa card. These terms are constantly posted, as updated each time, on the Bank's website.

Activating your card means that you accept the new updated terms of use of your Piraeus Prepaid Visa Card.

Do I have to take any action after receiving my card or is it functional right away?

For security reasons, your new Piraeus Prepaid Visa Card is not activated and you should activate it as soon as possible, because your Piraeus Prepaid Reloadable Card will be automatically cancelled at 15/10/2024 and it will not be available for any transaction.

Please activate your new card following the instructions on the cover letter where the card has been affixed. Upon activation of your new Piraeus Prepaid Visa card, your Piraeus Prepaid Reloadable Card will be automatically deactivated and any remaining available balance of your Piraeus Prepaid Reloadable Card will be automatically transferred to Piraeus Prepaid Visa Card.

Will I be charged for replacing my card?

Your new card will be replaced free of charge if the change is made on a date other than the renewal date.

If the replacement is made on the renewal date, the charge set out in the Terms and Conditions of the Agreement for the Issue and Use of your Prepaid Card will apply. Will I see the new card in my wallet?

Your card number has changed, therefore you will need to re-register your new Piraeus Prepaid Visa Card in your digital wallets, in case you have registered your Piraeus Prepaid Reloadable in them.

What will happen to the available balance I had on my old card?

Any available balance will be transferred from your Piraeus Prepaid Reloadable Card to your new Piraeus Prepaid Visa Card, upon its activation.

Please note that the Piraeus Prepaid Reloadable Card will be automatically cancelled on 15/10/2024 and cannot be used for any transaction. In case the Prepaid Visa Card is not activated by 15/10/2024, any available balance will remain on the Piraeus Prepaid Reloadable Card and you will be able to receive it either by requesting it at a Bank Branch in case you do not wish to keep the Piraeus Prepaid Visa Card, or by activating the Piraeus Prepaid Visa Card that was sent to you and enjoying the benefits of using it.

Replacing Piraeus WEBUY Mastercard® product with a Visa product

Are there any changes for the replacement of my Piraeus WEBUY Mastercard® card with a corresponding Piraeus WEBUY Visa product?

Your new card:

  • carries a different card number and CVV2
  • retains the same features and functionality as your old card (e.g. loading - unloading limits etc.)
  • offers you a range of privileges and services, such as:
    • Payments via digital wallets
    • Card management via Piraeus e-banking & Piraeus app
    • Rewards through the Υellow Program.
    • Participation in offers, discounts, competitions
    • Secure online transactions
    • Access to the Carbon Footprint Calculator for card transactions via Piraeus e-banking & Piraeus app

Do I have to take any action after replacing my card or is it immediately functional?

Your new Piraeus WEBUY card is fully functional. You only need to look up the details of your new card (card number, expiry date, CVV2) via the Card Info to Piraeus e-banking or Piraeus app in order to be able to use it for e-commerce transactions or register your card to a digital wallet in order to make purchases in physical stores as well.

Your old card has been automatically cancelled and cannot be used for any transaction. Any available balance on your old Piraeus WEBUY Mastercard product, has been automatically transferred to your new Piraeus WEBUY Visa card.


What can I do if I do not wish to replace my Piraeus WEBUY Mastercard with Visa?

In case you do not wish to continue enjoying the benefits of your card, you can cancel your Piraeus WEBUY Mastercard until 13/11/2024.Any available balance can be received by unloading it to your account before cancelling your card. Please note that not cancelling your card by 13/11/2024 will mean acceptance of the new updated terms of use of your Piraeus WEBUY card.
