Implementation of a new way of paying allowances for DYPA & OPEKA - New Terms of Use of the Piraeus Prepaid Visa KEA card for the credit of the allowance ‘Social Solidarity Income’.

Following the changes in the institutional framework regarding the payment of allowances, aids, and benefits of the Public Employment Service (DYPA) and the Organization of Welfare Benefits and Social Solidarity (OPEKA), from 10/03/2025, the following changes will apply to the terms of use of your Piraeus Prepaid Visa KEA card:

  • The prepaid card you have in your possession will henceforth function as a Social Benefits Card, based on the provisions of the legislation in force. It will be credited with the Social Solidarity Income, in accordance with the procedures and conditions imposed by the relevant institutional framework.
  • Cash withdrawal will be possible, up to 50% of the amount of each benefit.
  • It will not be possible for the holder to recharge with his own funds.
  • There will be restrictions on the use of the prepaid card in certain merchant categories (gambling and purchase of weapons).
  • The card can be used exclusively in Greece and in countries within the European Union.
  • It will not support a refund on the value of the transaction at AVIN & CYCLON service stations.
  • With the implementation of the above changes, new Terms and Conditions of Use (available only in Greek) of your prepaid card will apply.

Please note that if you are a beneficiary of another benefit of DYPA or OPEKA (in accordance with the provisions of the legislation) and you have chosen Piraeus Bank for its payment, it will be credited to the Prepaid Visa KEA card you already have in your possession.

Do I need to take any action or does the card I already have still work?

The Piraeus Prepaid Visa KEA card you already have is still working and you do not need to take any action. As of 10/03/2025, the changes to its use will automatically take effect, according to the above mentioned.

Will my Piraeus Prepaid Visa KEA card's loading and transaction limits remain the same?

The transaction limits remain the same. However, οnly the benefit amount will be loaded to your card and there will now be the capability of cash withdrawal, up to 50% of the amount of each allowance. Ιt will no longer be possible for the cardholder to reload the card with his/her own funds.

Will only the Social Solidarity Income be credited to the Piraeus Prepaid Visa ΚΕΑ card that I have in my possession?

In case you are entitled to other allowances, aids or benefits of DYPA or OPEKA (according to the provisions of the legislation) and you have chosen Piraeus for its payment, from now on, this will also be credited to the Prepaid Visa KEA card you already hold.

Will I incur any charges for these changes?

No, there is no charge.

What charges will I incur from using my card?

There will be no extra charge. Withdrawals and payments to purchase goods or services using your card will incur no fees. Also, the renewal of your card and any reissue you request in the event of its loss, will be provided free of charge.

Can I unload my card?

From 10/03/2025 you can withdraw up to 50% of the amount of each benefit in cash through ATM. It is not possible to unload your card balance in your deposit account.
