The aim of the Equall programme is to develop actions that aim to create equal opportunities, for a society of equal people, free of discrimination and exclusion, free of stereotypes, and all forms of violence against vulnerable social groups.
At Piraeus Bank, we harmonise our activities in all areas of operation with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the Principles of Responsible Banking. To this end, we apply a multidimensional Corporate Responsibility policy, at the core of which is the Equall - For a Society of Equal People programme.
The programme aims at contributing to the elimination of inequalities, discrimination, exclusion and gender stereotyping faced by women and vulnerable groups and, furthermore, to empower the young generation with the necessary skills to become stronger and achieve their goals.
The actions of the programme focus on education, training, acquisition and enhancement of skills, creating equal opportunities for all towards growth, development, and self-reliance in conditions of dignity and respect.
Piraeus is the first Greek bank to have signed the Women's Empowerment Principles of the UN Global Compact and UN Women, making specific commitments to develop actions that will strengthen and promote Gender Equality. In addition, it was included for the second consecutive year in 2023 Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index (GEI), which tracks and assesses the performance of companies that are committed to transparency of their data related to the implementation of policies and actions they develop for Gender Equality.
The programme is developed around four pillars, which are constantly being enriched and expanded with new actions. Today these pillars are:
1. Gender Equality
2. Children’s Welfare
3. New Generation
4. Vulnerable Social Groups
