Download the Piraeus app from App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android) or App Gallery (Huawei) by typing Piraeus app and click Get (iOS) or Install (Android) or Install (Huawei).

I forgot / blocked my Piraeus e-banking password

If you have activated the SMS extraPIN feature and you know your username but don't remember your password, you can reissue your password by starting the process from here.

In any case, password reissuance continues to be provided through the bank's branch network.

What requirements do I have to meet to open an account for the first time?

To be able to open an account for the first time you must:

  • be an individual
  • be 18 years old or above
  • be a permanent resident and taxed exclusively in Greece
  • show your Greek Identity Card with Latin characters for identification during the video call
  • you must not already be a Piraeus Bank customer

Is there a fee to register online as a new customer of Bank Piraeus?

No, the service is free of charge.

How do I install the Piraeus app on my mobile phone?

You can download the Piraeus app on your mobile from App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android) or App Gallery (Huawei) depending on your device.

How will I receive my card?

The issued debit card will be sent to the home address you provided during the process. Your PIN will also be sent to the same address by separate registered mail.

What is the EMEp? Where can I find more information?

The National Register of Citizens Communications (E.M.Ep.) is the management information system of the central base for the unique registration of Individuals’ contact details. You can find it on gov.gr (ΕΜΕπ) (howto.gov.gr)

What documents do I need to become a customer through Digital Onboarding?

You only need to have your TAXISnet codes and updated information in the National Register of Citizens Communication/ EMEp (notify.gov.gr)

Can I open an account if my e-Gov professional details are blank?

Yes, but you must state your activity (e.g., student, household, unemployed, earner).

Can I start my banking relationship via eGOV-KYC regardless of my profession?

Yes, as long as you can be identified via eGOV-KYC.

Can I open an account if I am not liable for a tax declaration?

Yes, but you will need to complete the relevant declaration of responsibility (after the procedure) stating the reason why you are not liable. Submit it, as soon as possible, in a Piraeus Bank branches or online via Piraeus e-banking.

What happens if my registration process is interrupted?

If the process is interrupted at any point, you can restart the process within 12 hours. Your progress is saved and you pick up where you left off. After 12 hours, you can start the process again from the beginning.

Why can't I continue after e-Gov authentication?

Possible reasons that may prevent you from continuing are:

  • you are underage
  • you have a residential address outside Greece
  • indications appear that you are not taxed exclusively in Greece
  • you are already a Piraeus Bank customer
  • your e-Gov details are invalid or incomplete

I enter the one-time password (OTP) and it is not accepted. Why might this be?

The maximum 2 minutes "lifetime" of the OTP has been exceeded. In this case you will have to click resend to continue.

If I encounter a problem during the process, who should I contact?

For any problem, questions or clarifications, please contact the Piraeus Bank service department at +30 21 0 328 8000.

What happens if during the video call with the bank representative, the call is interrupted by a random factor?

In this case, you will have to start the process from the beginning.

What are the available hours to video call with a representative?

A representative will be available to assist you:

  • Monday - Friday: 8.00 a.m. - 8.30 p.m.
  • Saturday: 10.00 a.m. - 3.30 p.m.

Is it possible to service A.M.E.A. (customers with disabilities)?

There is the possibility to serve people with hearing impairments, as the Piraeus Bank representative in the video call is sign language trained.

Why is the video call step mandatory?

The video call is necessary, according to the respective regulatory instructions for remote electronic identification, aiming to open an account from the mobile phone.

Can I help a familiar person with the video call?

If two people appear in the video call (e.g. grandchild/grandparent - child/parent) if it is not clear for the identified person that he has legal capacity (e.g. lack of sanity/ difficulty in communication/ reduced perception) then the identification cannot be continued. If the second person does not interfere with the answers of the person to be identified and assists in the process, the identification continues normally.
